Configure Units and Unit Conversions

Buy in bags, sell in kilos: set up unit conversions cleanly.

Unit conversions let you buy in one unit and sell in another, like cement that you buy by the bag but sell by the kilo.

When to use this

Use conversions whenever your purchase unit is different from your sale unit. Common cases: bags of cement, rolls of cable, cartons of tiles.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the product. Tap Products, then select the item.
  2. Set the base unit. This is the unit your stock is measured in (for example kg or meter).
  3. Add a purchase unit. Tap Add conversion and choose the unit you buy in (for example bag).
  4. Enter the factor. How many base units are in one purchase unit (for example 1 bag = 50 kg).
  5. Save. Now when you receive 1 bag, stock goes up by 50 kg automatically.

Common issues

  • Stock doubled after purchase: you added the factor twice. Edit the conversion and set it correctly.
  • Sale price seems wrong: the product price is per base unit. If you set a kg price, a 2.5 kg sale costs 2.5 x price.
