Set Up a Hardware Store (Quincaillerie Mode)
Turn on hardware store mode to sell by meter, kilogram, bag or piece.
Quincaillerie mode adapts SmartSell for hardware stores that sell by length, weight or partial quantity.
When to use this
Turn this on if you sell cable by the meter, paint by the litre, cement by the bag, or nails by the kilo. It lets stock and sales use decimal quantities like 2.5 or 0.75.
Step-by-step
- Open Business Settings. From your dashboard, tap Settings.
- Set Business Type. Choose Hardware / Quincaillerie.
- Enable Decimal Inventory. Toggle Allow decimal quantities on.
- Define your units. Go to Settings > Units and add the ones you use (meter, kilogram, bag, piece, litre).
- Save and return to your dashboard.
Common issues
- Stock shows whole numbers only: Decimal Inventory is off. Re-enable it in Settings.
- Cannot enter 0.5 in POS: The product has unit = piece. Change the product unit to meter or kg.
