Process Refunds and Returns

Refund a sale, full or partial, and put stock back.

Refunds reverse a sale and put stock back on the shelf. SmartSell supports full and partial refunds.

When to use this

When a customer returns a defective item, changes their mind, or was overcharged.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Sales.
  2. Find the sale. Search by receipt number, date or customer.
  3. Tap Refund.
  4. Full or partial. Select items and quantities for partial refunds.
  5. Choose refund method. Cash, mobile money, or store credit.
  6. Confirm. Stock returns and the refund is recorded.

Common issues

  • Cannot find sale: widen the date range or search by customer phone.
  • Stock not returned: the item was set non-returnable. Adjust the product settings.
